"Grannie"

This is a quilt portrait of my grandmother, Jean Baird Pugh, 1891-1991.  She was born in Napoleonville, Louisiana.   It appears in the book, Lonestar Quilts: 1985-2011 published by the University of Texas press.   "Grannie" also was part of the International Quilt Festival traveling exhibition "I Remember Mama."

The quilt was created from a charcoal drawing of my grandmother when she was 80 years old.  She was not happy to be sitting for the portrait, hence her rather unhappy expression.

"Grannie," which is about 24" X 30" was done while taking an online class through Quilt University by Marilyn Belford
